EURASIA TUNNEL PROJECT

Eurasia Tunnel Project connects the Asian Side and the European side with a sub-sea highway tunnel. Within the scope of Eurasia Tunnel project that will provide service on one of the Istanbul regions with busy vehicle traffic, Kazlıçeşme-Göztepe line, Akdağlar continues the construction of 14.6 km in total.
The 5.4 km of the project is composed of a two-tier tunnel which is built under the sea by using a special technology, and connection tunnels that are built using different methods. Also, on the 9.2km between Europe and Asia, road expansion and improvement efforts are still continuing. The access roads between Sarayburnu-Kazlıçeşme and Harem-Göztepe are being expanded to build underpass highways and pedestrian overpasses.



The construction of tunnel and the road expansion-improvement will relieve vehicle traffic as a whole, and reduce the time of travelling from 100 minutes to 15 minutes in this busy route of Istanbul.
In total, almost 850.000 tons of sub-base and plant-mix material, and 140.000 tons of bituminous hot mixture were produced, transported, mapped, checked and applied for this project.
