In relation to Istanbul, the intensive
housing demand, the housing, roads, bridges, tunnels, shopping
malls, hospitals, schools and many civil work constructions
that would be reinforced against earthquake depend on the
fact that the aggregate production be in sufficient quantity
and in a stable way. In Istanbul, it is in need of 150 millions
tonnes of aggregate every year, that is to say, so much
water is used.
On the other hand, any places having no alternative where
the digging out amounts to a burden of 30.000 trucks per
day as a result of the civil work occupations in Istanbul
are the pits where the aggregate production is done. This
demand is as important as the civil work constructions in
respect of prevention of any environmental catastrophe.
When a dumping place could not be found, the digging out
are dumped in forestry locations in a random way and cause
an environmental pollution at a catastrophic level. So it
is a good luck that the aggregate production plants are
situated close to the centrums .
